The units of competency cover essential work health and safety requirements, the industrial and work organisation structure, communication skills, work planning, and basic use of tools and materials. The qualification is built around a basic construction project unit that integrates the skills and embeds the facets of employability skills in context.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This qualification is open to individuals participating in a project approved by the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training eligible for funding under the Skilling Queenslanders for Work Program. This qualification is also open to individuals seeking to complete construction industry entry training under fee for service arrangements.

  • 14 weeks
  • Training – combination of face to face and online and on the job training under the direction of a workplace supervisor
  • Assessment – theory assessment and practical observations conducted on site or in simulated environments
